Now this may never be an issue with the DD edition of DAO, but I erred on the side of caution and decided to keep my physical CE ordered. OBSE gave enhanced functionality to mods. Since you couldn't use OBSE, mods that took advantage of it could not be used. The Oblivion Script Extender was a mod that modified the Oblivion executable file, Steam did not like the modified exe. Well a certain mod for Oblivion wouldn't work with Steam, and by extension many other mods wouldn't work. Or perhaps you want the physical goodies of the collector's edition?Yeah, the tin box, cloth maps and other cool stuff are nice to have, but I have some time left to decide so no worries. Why not simply buy the steam version? The deluxe edition is the collector's edition and it brings extra content and the day one dlc.
